General
A carbon reduction plan is a document that outlines your business’s carbon footprint and sets targets for reducing emissions. It covers Scope 1 (direct emissions), Scope 2 (purchased energy), and Scope 3 (supply chain, travel, waste) emissions, giving you a clear picture of where your carbon comes from and how to cut it.
Any UK business tendering for government contracts over £5 million annually needs one under PPN 006. But any business wanting to understand and reduce their environmental impact benefits from having a clear, data-driven plan — whether for tenders, stakeholder reporting, or genuine sustainability goals.
The questionnaire takes about 10 minutes to complete. Your plan is generated and delivered shortly after payment — no waiting weeks for consultants.
Yes. We use Supabase for authentication and Stripe for payments. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and we never store card details on our servers. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Yes. Annual renewal is just £99/year — the same price as the original plan. You get updated figures, year-on-year comparison, and new reduction targets. PPN 006 requires annual updates.
PPN 006 requires your Carbon Reduction Plan to be updated annually. We’ll send you a reminder when your plan is approaching its anniversary. Annual renewal is £99 and includes updated figures, year-on-year comparison, and new targets.
Yes. If you provide your website URL during the questionnaire, we automatically assess your website’s carbon emissions using the EcoPigs engine. The result is included in your Scope 3 breakdown with a grade and grams-per-visit figure.
A carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions generated by a business, measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent (tCO2e). It covers direct emissions (Scope 1), purchased energy (Scope 2), and indirect emissions from your supply chain, travel, commuting, and waste (Scope 3). Understanding your carbon footprint is the first step toward reducing it and reaching net zero.
Net zero means reducing your greenhouse gas emissions as far as possible and offsetting any remaining emissions so the net amount released is zero. The UK government has set a legal target of reaching net zero by 2050. A carbon reduction plan sets out your pathway toward net zero with science-based targets aligned to the 1.5°C Paris Agreement goal.
Yes. Your carbon reduction plan provides the environmental data foundation for ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) reporting. The Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions data, along with your reduction targets, can be used in sustainability reports, CDP submissions, investor presentations, and B Corp applications.

Carbon & Compliance
We use DEFRA 2024 UK Government Greenhouse Gas Conversion Factors — the official UK standard used by government departments and recommended for all UK carbon reporting.
Procurement Policy Note 006 requires businesses bidding for UK government contracts above £5 million to provide a Carbon Reduction Plan. Every Carbonhogs plan is fully PPN 006 compliant, with all required sections and the mandatory declaration.
Scope 1 covers direct emissions from sources you own or control, such as gas boilers and company vehicles. Scope 2 covers indirect emissions from purchased energy, like electricity. Scope 3 covers everything else — business travel, employee commuting, supply chain, waste disposal, and more.
We follow the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard, with SBTi-aligned target setting and ISO 14064-1 principles. This is the same methodology used by the world’s largest organisations.
Yes. Every Carbonhogs plan includes all sections required by PPN 006. The format follows official government guidance and includes the mandatory declaration. Thousands of UK businesses use this format for successful tender submissions.
SECR (Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting) is a UK regulation requiring large companies to report energy use and carbon emissions in their annual directors’ reports. If your business is quoted on a stock exchange, or meets two of three criteria (turnover over £36m, balance sheet over £18m, 250+ employees), you likely need SECR reporting. Our Verification add-on produces audit-ready data suitable for SECR compliance.
The Procurement Act 2023 comes into full effect in February 2026 and replaces the previous procurement rules. It expands the consideration of environmental sustainability in public sector procurement decisions. Businesses with a carbon reduction plan and clear net zero commitments will be better positioned for government contracts under the new framework.
